Acoustic fixed frame

Cinema Sonic Edge

Speakers behind the screen

Fixed-frame screen with a high-density woven, acoustically transparent surface, designed for true dedicated rooms where the front speakers (left, center, right) sit behind the surface. Sound passes through the screen unaltered, and the image stays sharp with no visible grain at the recommended viewing distance. Available in 16:9 and CinemaScope 2.35:1 up to 250 inches.

100″ – 250″ · 16:9 and 2.35:1 formats

Which room is it for?

In a commercial cinema, the front speakers sit behind the screen: dialogue comes from the actors' mouths, not from a point below the image. The Sonic Edge reproduces that configuration with a high-density woven surface, free of perforation, that sound passes through freely. Like any acoustic fabric it introduces a slight attenuation at the top of the spectrum: this is corrected by equalisation, after measuring through the fabric with the speakers in place. Available in CinemaScope 2.35:1 up to 250 inches, it is the screen for dedicated rooms designed around sound as much as image.

Installation checklist

  • Plan the wall clearance: the speakers must fit between the surface and the wall.
  • Align the tweeter axis with the upper third of the image, as in a commercial cinema.
  • Woven structure: no moiré to fear, unlike a perforated surface.
  • Finish the wall behind the surface in matte black to avoid light bounce.

Frequently asked questions

Is brightness lost?

An acoustically transparent surface lets some light through: the loss is real but moderate. It is offset by a projector with a little headroom.

Is the surface texture visible?

Not at the recommended viewing distance. The high-density weave — over 76,000 micro-openings per square foot — stays invisible to the eye beyond the minimum distance.
